'Staycation' figures going up again?

Posted on 8:25am Tuesday 20th Apr 2010

New figures showing a drop in overseas holidays suggest that Britons are still keen on the trend of 'Staycations', according to Barclays.

The Office for National Statistics's latest report shows that visits abroad made by UK residents fell by 15 per cent last year compared with 2008.

Mike Saul, head of hospitality and leisure at Barclays, said this drop can be attributed to Britons seeking greater value for money on their holidays by taking breaks in the UK.

"It seems the staycation trend has life in it," he remarked, adding that while people still want to holiday overseas, they are leaving it later than usual to book their getaways.

Are 'Staycations' going to be a thing of the future? With less jobs and families having less income, the UK still seems a popular choice.

Remember, Rentabuggy offers baby equipment hire and pushchairs delivered and collected direct to and from your place of stay, taking the stress out of packing! We also offer our Holiday Welcome Packs, which are full of all the essentials you will need for your break.
